Loneliness, Problematic Social Media Use dan Self-Esteem Sebagai Mediatornya

This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between loneliness and problematic social media use on students through self-esteem mediators. The population in this study were students of social media users in Semarang City Junior High Schools, with a sample of 345 students selected using cluster random sampling techniques. Data collection uses R-UCLA Loneliness Scale version 3, Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), and self-esteem inventory (SEI). The results of the analysis using Hayes technique model 4 show that the direct effect of loneliness with problematic social media use significantly influences. On the indirect effect of loneliness with significant self-esteem, the relationship of self-esteem with problematic social media use is also significant, so there is a mediating effect of self-esteem on loneliness on problematic social media use. This study provides counselor understanding of problematic social media use on students
